My Journey

From a young age, I’ve had a deep passion for sewing and crafting. Growing up in Feilding, I dabbled in sewing at school and even designed my own ball dress. The thrill of competing in the School Wearable Art Competitions sparked my creative spirit, and I was lucky enough to win several awards along the way.

After school, I explored different creative avenues, studying Photography, Animation, and Video for a year before pursuing a Diploma in Interior Design. It was during my Interior Design studies in 2009 that I started my own craft business, eejay Design, which I ran for a wonderful 13 years.

In 2013, I took my first professional steps as a Seamstress in Palmerston North. That’s where I discovered my true passion for bridal and formal wear alterations. I quickly moved up from Assistant Manager to Manager, and after a fulfilling 18 months in that role, I decided it was time for a new adventure. In late 2016, I made the move to the beautiful Kapiti Coast, eager for new opportunities and experiences.

Since then, I’ve worked with a few local sewing and alterations businesses in Kapiti. It became clear to me that there was a real need for specialized bridal alterations services, and I dreamed of creating a business just for that purpose. My vision was to offer brides a peaceful, stress-free experience in a dedicated, private space where they could feel truly at ease.

In 2017, I planned my own wedding right here in Peka Peka. Even though my partner and I had only three months to prepare, it was an amazing experience. While I didn’t have time to create my own dress, I skillfully modified an existing one to make it perfect for me.

In late 2018, I became a mother to a beautiful little girl, which has been one of the greatest joys of my life.

In 2020, I finally saw my dream of opening my own bridal alterations business come to life. Although the Covid pandemic brought its own challenges, we navigated through it together. Today, I am busier than ever, and it brings me immense joy to see brides traveling from all around to seek my services.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story. I hope you enjoyed learning a bit more about me and my journey.
